While the Department of Transport has extended various licenses due for renewal during the Lockdown period - you can stay one step ahead and renew your vehicle licence disc online or at various stores (like Spar and Pick ’n Pay) throughout South Africa!

These are some of the questions and answers given by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC):

Q: Will motorists be prosecuted for expired vehicle discs, drivers’ licences and public drivers permits (PDP) that expire within the 21 days of the lockdown period?

A: Motorists will be reprieved for expired vehicle discs and licences until the lockdown is lifted.

Q: Will an essential worker be charged if found travelling/driving with a license disk that has expired during the lockdown period?

A: Motorists have a 21 days grace period and can renew after the lockdown.

While we may be hamstrung at the moment – we will eventually get back to travelling on holiday, for business or special occasions.
