AHOY! SKIBOAT CLUBS, BOATING CLUBS AND MARINAS!
Club Marine is always looking for new ways to meet the needs of our clients. We’re excited to present our new products!

BRAND NEW LAUNCH SITE
& SLIPWAY OPERATORS
LIABILITY COVER
Club Marine has just launched the first-ever liability cover available in South Africa - for entities operating and managing slipways and beach launch sites for
watercraft. (Inland and Coastal cover). This is good news for clubs and marinas as it provides cover for incidents where you are held legal liability for damages to
property as well as injury or loss of life.
Have you ever thought about the impact it could have on your entity should a swimmer or diver be injured during a launch?
The new cover includes:
-
Slipway and launch site operators
-
Operators of lifting / carrying equipment
-
Provision of utilities
-
Provision of weather and boating information
-
Any other service commonly performed by a marina operator
This is a relatively unique South African risk - as vessels are normally only operated from Marinas across the world and not surf launched off the beaches.

Introducing Justin Paynter, our new Club Marine Brand Ambassador, who brilliantly represents us wherever he goes.
Also known or identified as “Pink Pants”, Justin is one of the most astute anglers and skippers of our time. When he’s not fishing out of Durban, Umhlanga or Umdloti Ski Boat Club
– he’s hard at work as Deputy Principal at Crawford International North Coast.
Justin’s passion for fishing is evident in the amount of time he gives back to the sport. He served on the committee of the Durban Ski Boat Club from 2014 until
2020 (Junior & Lady development and Club Captain). He is currently the development officer for Umhlanga Ski Boat Club, a director on the board at Point Water Sports
Club which houses DSBC and DUC and the newly appointed PRO for SADSAA.
He has achieved his Natal and SADSAA Colours for Game fishing, and will hopefully in the next few years, don the Green blazer.
Justin believes in two things, live your life to the fullest and have no regrets.

Back in the day, women were thought to be bad luck on board because they distracted the crew, which would anger the sea which, in revenge, would create treacherous
conditions. More likely, the men couldn’t handle doing their jobs while simultaneously flirting with women.
|
To stop the problem, a wise skipper played the “bad luck” card because it carried weight among superstitious sailors.
Over the years, several women disguised themselves in men’s clothing and snuck on board anyway - either to follow a lost love or live and work at sea. According to British
archivists – some of these women didn’t just successfully disguise themselves; on revealing their true gender, they even received a pension for their maritime services!
